My Power of PowerPoint…Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? I really like to draw something, do something with my hands. As a child, I made toys from fur, knitted toys, made flowers from fabric, made crafts from leaves, cones, seeds, branches, mushrooms, made papier-mâché and other paper crafts, and etc. And this desire to decorate life, to make it more interesting – still remains. And it helps me a lot in my work. You know that the work of the Scrum Master is creative. Agree?
Well, in summer of 2020, I was told that there are very good courses for those who want to learn how to make high-quality and beautiful presentations. I wanted to take a similar course for a very long time. As a result, I took the first introductory course at the Academy of Presentations Bonnie & Slide – Power of PowerPoint. This is a slide design course.

This course was held online. I watched video tutorials and then completed assignments and then I was mentored. During the first lessons I just learned to draw simple pictures with PowerPoint shapes. For me it was a revelation – it turns out that it is so easy to draw a medal, a road sign and much more using different shapes. Look here:

Then the tasks became more and more difficult. I mastered fonts, applying filters, colors, positioning pictures on a slide. Look here:

After that, I learned to draw tables and graphs: how tables should be configured, the location of numbers in the tables and how to highlight the most important information using colors, fonts.

And then there was an exam. Here is the first slide of my exam work. Do you see the gun? I drew it with 23 PowerPoint shapes. At first I drew it large and then reduced it. A bullet, a glass, wine – these are also drawn with different figures. A kind of Magic, right?

I am happy that I took this course. This is only an initial level, there are some more courses at the Academy. And over time, I plan to go through them. It is an incredible feeling when a living picture is born from the simplest circles, triangles, lines.
And by the way, I recently tried doing the same in Miro when I was preparing Retrospectives for my teams. And I managed to do it. So, I think that in any editor you can try to do this.
Do you feel the Power of PowerPoint? I really do.
