My new experience – Scrum Examiner. Here is my inspiring story. A prequel. Two years ago I decided to become a Scrum Master. I went along my learning path – step by step. In December 2019, I successfully passed my first test at Scrum Alliance and got my first CSM certificate. Then I studied further, worked in start-ups. A year ago I worked at Sberbank as a Scrum Master/Agile Coach and had a mentor. It was great time and unforgetable period of time.
And now the plot of the story – this year, on December 01, I was the examiner of the students, who studied at the Scrum Masters School at Alfa-Bank. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
Of course, it was exciting and very encouraging. I remember the time when I was a student, how I worried, how I prepared for the test. I remember my feelings before and during interviews, answering questions and thinking over various cases that I was asked to solve. And now I’m on the other side of the exam.
Remembering all my thoughts and worries, I tried very hard to make the new Scrum Masters who were sitting in front of me (online) feel comfortable and calm. You know, stress affects people in different ways. Someone forgets everything, someone on the contrary – can remember everything better. In any way stress is stress.
You can tell that being a Scrum Master requires a lot of patience, confidence, openness, courage. And students should not be afraid of the exam, they should be confident and etc. But it is important for us to understand the strong points and points of growth during exam, to see how a person thinks and reflects. And so I didn’t want anyone to be nervous so that they coud show their knowledge.
A few words about exam. The exam consisted of written and oral parts and lasted about three hours. It was very nice to see that we have new talented Scrum Masters in front of us. No doubt, they still have a lot to learn and need pracrice, but now I can feel their strong desire to become a Scrum Master and they did all their best for it. We all learn something new every day, master this or that instrument (Jira, Miro, ways of faciitation, coaching and so on). And there is no end to our studies. It’s so cool! I really hope that they will not be frightend and wil not in developing and join us – Alfa-Bank Community of Scrum Masters.
One of the next steps of my own development is training eduScrum. By the way, the Alfa-Bank School of Scrum Masters uses eduScrum for educating students. As soon as I finish the training, I will definitely tell you about it.
Good Luck all of you! I have my own experience and I know what a difficult, but insanely interesting path it is.
