Five years ago I embarked on a path that changed my career. Becoming a Scrum Master was my goal, but the journey to achieve it was far from easy. I faced numerous challenges: professional training, certifications, and, most dauntingly, initial unsuccessful attempts to find work in this new role.
Unwilling to give up, I decided to expand my skills and knowledge by training as a QA tester. This decision opened doors for me in the world of IT and startups, where I got my first chance to prove myself. In one young and ambitious startup, I was given the opportunity to work as a tester. This experience proved invaluable, as it was there that I formed my first Scrum team. This step was pivotal in my career.
Gradually, my confidence and skills strengthened. Soon, I received an offer for a temporary position at a bank. This experience allowed me to better understand the specifics of working in large corporate structures and taught me a crucial skill—adapting agile development methodologies to the needs of a large organization.
The next stage of my journey was joining another bank, where I continue to work to this day. Here I not only apply my accumulated knowledge but also keep growing, as each day presents new challenges and opportunities for development.
I would like to thank my family who supported and helped me on my way to the goal.
Three years ago, in collaboration with Scrum Alliance, I hosted a meetup about how I became a Scrum Master. You can read about it here.
Becoming a Scrum Master meant more to me than just changing professions; it marked the beginning of a path towards self-improvement and continuous learning. Every day in this role reminds me that the essence of agile methodologies is readiness for change, the ability to listen and hear others, and the capacity to turn challenges into opportunities.
And, of course, it involves an ongoing process of learning that makes each new day unique and unforgettable.
