The Books I Have Read Recently

Reading is an interesting creative process of getting new knowledge for personal and professional development. Reading books helps not only to maintain the existing level of knowledge, but also expands it. By reading, we supply our brain with new information. The more knowledge we have, the more prepared we are for the various challenges we face in life and work. By reading books, we learn.

I would like to share what two books I have recently read. Here are they and short overview:

Management 3.0: Leading Agile Developers, Developing Agile Leaders by Jurgen Appelo

I have read this book after training – Management 3.0. The book is very easy to read. The purpose of this book is to make it clear how Agile teams work. So it is, gradually the author logically and structured shows interesting ideas of team management, the results of some experiments, and at the end of each chapter there are questions for self-reflection and the opportunity to reflect on the reality in the company where you work. This book contains many valuable ideas for developing self-organizing teams. The author proposes an approach to managing a team as a system. The author believes that the task of the organization’s management is to enable this system to independently organize its work, correctly set the restrictions and build the structure of free communication and continuous improvement.

More Effects Agile by Steven C. McConnell

After reading this book, I still can’t say for sure whether something will be useful to me in my work or not. I can say one thing for sure that it was interesting to read about the experience of implementing the framework. This book is about how to get the most out of Agile methods in your organization. It is very convenient that at the beginning of each chapter there is a brief description, and due to this you can understand what it is about and whether there is a need for you to read or reread it.

There are some other books I’m going to read in the nearest future:

The Art of Focused Conversation: 100 Ways to Access Group Wisdom in the Workplace by R. Brian Stanfield

Devenir facilitateur by Jean-Philippe Poupard

Accelerate: The Science of Lean Software and DevOps: Building and Scaling High Performing Technology Organizations by Nicole Forsgren PhD, Jez Humble, Gene Kim

What books are you reading now, have recently read or are going to read and why? Did you read the books I mentioned?

I’ll be happy to discuss it. Do not hesitate to contact me on Telegram or at LinkedIn – just click one of these words.
